The national Dinner yesterday was great! It was really fun and exciting and i just love the feel of organizing and planning and executing out an event from scratch. Sure, we made some blunders but nothing a little enthusiasm (and apologizing profusely) can't settle.
People there were really nice and generous. I really like the businessmen over here in HK (well most of them anyway), they were so spontaneous and so sporting, they really delved into the game and i can see... they really enjoyed themselves. Sometimes, it seems perfectly natural for me to join in their conversation and laugh and joke with them even though im not part of their corporate world at all, but, they make it so comfortable for me to enter their circle. If this is what networking is all about, sign me up for the next one.
My time in HK is almost up, im glad i went for several networking functions and am coming back with numerous namecards and memories of conversations i have had with these businessmen. Whether or not i receive offers, i am still pleased with the contacts i have made.
The NDP dinner started off with a little icebreaker, then the speech then dinner and then handing out of the main quiz and then the challenge at the end, finally prize ceremony and closing speech and of course, lots and lots of photo taking :) Its funny and amazing how some businessmen seem hesistant when the quiz was handed out and its funny and comical when they start turning serious and wanting to answer EVERY question correctly and the truly amazing part, the top three teams that emerged belonged to those individuals whom i previously had contacts and conversations with. Knowing them by their first name sure made the challenge more engaging and infinitely more personal.
It was a good night, and Qy did well for her first time on stage! :D Here are some pics... yes yes, ignore the red and white uniform...
